Ministr Turismu se účastnil setkání SICA v Panamě
Belize City, Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 – The Minister of Tourism, Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., the Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Mrs. Shakira Oxley-Tsai, and the Director of Product Development, Mrs. Laura Esquivel – Frampton traveled to Panama for regional meetings with the Sistema de la Integracion Centroamericana (SICA) and the Central American Tourism Council (CCT).
SICA’s objectives seek to develop and promote regional products related to the
tourism cultural routes, introduce technical tools for planning and developing
tourism at a national and regional level, strengthen promotion, marketing
strategies and the Central American Tourism Agency (CATA) and support the small
and medium sized tourism enterprises in seeking better opportunities for
financing, training and promotion of regional supplies and products.
Minister Heredia also attended a presentation of an awareness campaign “Mucho
Gusto Central America”, hosted by the European Union through SICA. The Campaign
is a public awareness campaign focused on promoting Central American people in
the region and highlighting their talents and accomplishments. Belize was also
prominently featured in the television campaign which will air through Central
America.
While in Panama, the Marketing Director, Shakira Oxley-Tsai, attended technical
meetings where discussions centered on regional marketing, as well as future
marketing initiatives in the Central America and European markets were made. The
President of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA), Dionne Miranda,
also participated in the meetings and assumed the presidency of FEDECATUR, the
regional tourism private sector association.
"This was a tremendous opportunity for Belize to liaise with other Central
American countries and restate its pledge to foster a relationship with SICA and
CATA,"" comments Tourism Minister, Manuel Heredia, Jr. "Our union will better
serve to augment Belize’s stated tourism objectives in the areas of marketing
and product development." Minister Heredia expressed his gratitude to network
with his colleagues in Central America and reaffirms the Government’s commitment
to regional tourism integration efforts.
